I have an unusual mix of more than 40 years in commerce and industry, as well as significant time as an accountant in public practice. My experience spans from small business to senior finance roles in large organisations. Years of experience has taught me that in most businesses there are a small number of key principles for success – and how important it is to focus and get those things right.
Driven by a passion for small business, I first registered as a tax agent in 1982, and have been practicing as an accountant and tax agent ever since. I also have a commerce degree (for my technical qualifications) and an MBA, in support of my business experience. However, my passion, the thing that gets me out of bed each morning, remains working with people in real businesses, to make a positive and tangible difference.
I originally hail from Sydney. Once the kids moved out, my wife, Julia and I purchased a house in the Noosa Region and built JCA Accountants from two existing practices in 2016.
I love Noosa and the lifestyle, especially from a height of 1,500 feet occasionally, when I get to fly out of Caloundra or Gympie in a light sport aircraft.
I have worked as an accountant and business advisor for over thirty years. In the early years, whilst working in London for international TV and Sporting celebrities was interesting, the real reward was meeting people who run family businesses. From then on, my focus became supporting family owned and operated businesses. As Henry Ford said “Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
Having worked as a Chief Financial Officer I understand that the management of cash flow is central to the success of any business. From accurate cash management optimum commercial decisions can be made. Added to this a beneficial tax planning strategy can be implemented to achieve the most beneficial financial outcome. My approach is to keep your business secure and successful. You can choice to have a full range of tax and commercial support services; or a few, it’s up to you.
Being born In Wales I am a keen Rugby Union supporter so whether Wales or the British Lions play Australia, its game on in my house. I also enjoy playing golf and cycling. I have travelled a lot in Australia and aboard.
I bring to the JCA team over 25 years’ experience spanning both public practice and private industry. I’ve worked as a CFO for a large residential developer in Vail Colorado, as well as managing a diverse and extensive commercial real estate portfolio for Vail Resorts.
I received an MBA from Kennesaw University and a Bachelor of Accounting and Business from Northern Vermont University. I am a current Member of The American Institute of CPA’s, CPA Australia and the Colorado State Society of CPA’s.
I am currently leading the JCA Audit team and am able to provide for all your statutory Audit needs. Law Trust Accounts with Queensland Law Society or Real Estate Trust Accounts and Non-Profit and Association Audits for the Office of Fair Trade, JCA has you covered.
I have given up the ski’s, embraced the ‘Noosa Lifestyle’ and can now be found learning to Longboard down at Noosa Woods with my two children Peri 17 and Nathan 14, who are currently attending St Andrews and active in the local clubs of Little Seed Theatre and Noosa Lions Football.
They call me JCA’s Super Woman. I don’t wear a cape, but I will do an amazing job with your Superannuation Fund accounting, as well as all forms of taxation and GST requirements.
I finished my formal studies in Accounting and Tax in 1983 at New South Wales Institute of Technology. My early years were spent working with Permanent Trustee and other large firms in Sydney. I then worked in Palm Beach on the Gold Coast, and later moved to Bundaberg to live the farming life.
After 13 years of farm life, I settled in the hinterland of Sunshine Coast, swapping the hot rods for boating and camping. I am married to Peter and have five children aged between 19 and 30.
I have specialised for years in accounting and tax for groups and superannuation funds and have experience working with a wide variety of clients including businesses, individuals and sole traders. I like to tell my clients, “no question is a dumb question, just a challenge needing an answer and I will do so with honesty and integrity.”
I was born in Belarus, Eastern Europe. At High School I graduated with distinction and received a full government scholarship for the Belarusian State Economic University where I completed a Bachelor degree in Finance. I have also completed a Diploma in Tax Accounting in Australia.
After many years working in Europe and the USA in the banking, tourism, and hospitality industries, my search for the perfect place to live has ended in Queensland.
I have always loved numbers and the logic in calculations. I have very high standards of integrity combined with years of experience in customer service, which makes me a friendly tax consultant who will always aim to achieve the best results for you.
I want to inspire clients to learn more about their tax affairs, because better understanding will bring greater confidence and informed business decisions. I am always happy to help. My day only gets better if I know I helped someone or made their life easier.
I was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast. I love travelling and have set my sights on seeing 30 countries before I am 30. I am two thirds of the way there. My first trip overseas was at 16 to attend High School on exchange in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
After finishing my Bachelor degree in Business in 2016, I went on to work in sporting events. I was a part of the event organizing team behind the much loved local Sunny Coast event The Sunshine Coast Marathon along with many others. After a stint of living, working and snowboarding in Canada in 2019, I returned home to complete my Bachelor of Accounting at CQU. I plan to continue my studies in 2021 and join CPA Australia. I also have two plus years’ experience in Auditing and bookkeeping, and a year in Tax compliance work.
I love the fact that accounting is such a worldwide industry. This will help me with my goal of being able to continue my career and future education and still travel at the same time.
This is my first experience working in an accounting practice. It’s a far cry from the theatre and community arts sector that I’m used to, but I love it.
At Uni I completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accounting and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre Studies. After finishing a Post Graduate Diploma in Arts Management, I spent more than 20 years fundraising, running events and most importantly managing tight budgets for small organisations. While I loved supporting artists and their creative projects, I also enjoyed managing the finances and keeping things ticking over.
People say I have an adventurous spirit because I’ve lived and worked in six states and territories in Australia and spent two years in Germany. These ‘changes of environment’ have given me a wonderful knowledge of Australia and an even bigger appreciation for where I live now, on the Sunshine Coast, with my husband Sven and our dog Ragnar.
