Intermediate / Senior Accountant

We are a well-established public accounting practice with a strong reputation in the Sunshine Coast.  There is a supportive team environment of professional and dedicated staff that pride themselves on successful relationships with clients and providing quantifiable commercial and business assistance.

The practice is in newly renovated premises in Noosaville’s commercial centre using modern, cloud-based accounting tools and practice management software.

Compliance and taxation are the main work flows. However business planning, business and process improvement, computerisation, budgeting management, cash flow reporting, QBCC licence applications, renewals, and other business advisory projects, are also growing work streams.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for a progressive accountant with a background in public practice to move along in their career. You will provide a range of business and taxation services to our varied client portfolio including partnerships, companies, trusts, and self-managed super funds.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of Income Tax Returns, Business Activity Statements, and
  • Instalment Activity Statements
  • Preparation of financial statements and workpapers
  • Providing taxation advice around FBT, CGT, GST, Payroll Tax, tax liabilities and other tax advisory
  • Liaising with clients face to face, over the phone and via email or online.
  • Payroll processing, superannuation calculation and attendant reporting
  • Asset capitalisations, depreciation schedules, and other common balance sheet maintenance tasks

There are also opportunities to progress to superannuation administration, association audits, implementation of internal controls and advanced tax planning.

An excellent salary package will be negotiated.

The Applicant

You must have

  • at least 3 years public practice experience
  • an accounting or associated degree.
  • CPA, IPA or CA qualifications
  • an excellent working knowledge of Xero and XPM

Demonstrating a high level of skill and aptitude in the following will be well regarded

  • computer literate, with experience and competence in Microsoft Office applications – particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • detail oriented and an ability to work autonomously.
  • analytical with sound problem-solving skills
  • friendly and well disposed towards people
  • focused on customer service
