COVID 19 Government payments for NSW

COVID 19 Government payments for NSW

SUPPORT FOR BUSINESSES

There are three business assistance programs being made available, and while some are jointly funded by the Commonwealth, all are administered by the NSW Government, and NOT by the ATO.

The three programs are:

  1. Once off payment of up to $15k
  2. “Saving jobs” payment of 40% of payroll, up to $10k per week, from week 4 of lockdown – lockdown started 6:00pm Saturday 26th June, week 4 begins 6:00pm Saturday 24th July.
  3. Micro business grants of $1,500/fortnight for sole traders with a T/O of between $30k and $75k, to start from late July 2021 (whatever that means).

All programs require a reduction in turnover, however how this is to be measured is still being developed.

ONCE OFF PAYMENT

The once off payment (called 2021 COVID-19 business grant) of up to $15k is to be measured using a reduction in turnover caused by the lockdowns. How this is to be measured is still being defined. See https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/2021-covid-19-business-grant

Registrations for this payment are open from 19th July.

There are three payment and decline in turnover levels:

$7,500 for a decline of turnover of 30% or more

$10,500 for a decline of turnover of 50% or more

$15,000 for a decline of turnover of 70% or more

You should reach out to your accountant to help you determine if you qualify.

WEEKLY “SAVING JOBS” PAYMENT

The saving jobs payment of up to $10k is for NSW business with a turnover of between $75k and $50m. It is to be based on a reduction in turnover of at least 30% compared to an equivalent 2 week period in 2019

To qualify, you must maintain employment at the same level as 13/7/2021.

Sole traders also qualify for this grant, although only for a payment of $1k per week.

MICRO BUSINESS PAYMENT

The micro business grant of $1,500/fortnight is also based on a reduction of turnover of 30%.

STANDING DOWN EMPLOYEES
